The Spanish Epipactis cardina has been described not until 1998 by AYUSO and HERMOSILLA. Up to now it is only known from few high or northern exposed woods in Eastern Spain. The stature of the orchid is more compact than that of Epipactis helleborine. At young plants the leaves are arranged in two opposite lines along the stem. Stem and leaves are strongly tinted red. The blossoms are similar to the blossoms of helleborine, but usually coloured red. |
