As Prof. PAULUS explained in a lecture (video conference) for the AHO Baden-Württemberg on January 21, 2022, that beside bees, bumblebees, and probably beetles the Parasite Flies (Tachinidae) e.g. of genus Dilophus and Tachina play an important role in the pollination biology of the early flowering Burnt Orchid. More important are Parasite Flies (Tachinidae) for the pollination of the late flowering clans. As first research shows, both the appearance of the 'dark cap' and the smell seem to play a role. However, research into all of these issues has not yet progressed very far. |
