Etwa ein Drittel der Pflanzen an diesem Standort haben rötliche Anteile in den Blüten, die anderen sind normal blaßgelb, wie es sich für Orchis provincialis gehört. Es ist ungeklärt, ob die rote Farbe in den Genen von Orchis provincialis angelegt ist, oder ob es sich um die Nachkommen von Hybriden mit Orchis langei, olbiensis oder mascula handelt. Jedenfalls ist an dem Standort heute keine dieser Arten aus der mascula-Gruppe mehr zu finden. In Nordspanien gibt es mehrere derartige Standorte, und auch auf der Insel Korsika gibt es sie.
Jean-Pierre AMARDEILH in L'Orchidophile 182 (2009) zählt diese Formen zu seiner neu beschriebenen Orchis x navarrensis, der Hybride zwischen Orchis langei und Orchis provincialis.

About a third of the orchids at the site have red parts in their blossoms, the others are pale yellow as usual for Orchis provincialis. It is not known, whether the red colour is available in the genes of Orchis provincialis, or wether the orchids are descendants of hybrids with Orchis langei, olbiensis or mascula. At least today none of these orchids of the mascula group is still available at the site. There are several sites like this in Northern Spain, and also in the island of Corsica.
