Long time Ophrys aveyronensis has been considered as endemism of the Southern Cevennes with emphasis in the Northern part of the Causse Larzac in the departement Aveyron. Its pollinating bee is Andrena hattorfiana.
A few years ago identical plants have been found at several locations in Northern and Central Spanish mountains, too. These have been separated as an own species Ophrys vitorica by Karel Kreutz in Ber. Arbeitskrs. Heim. Orch. 24(1): 122 (2007). But I can't follow this because I don't see important differences between the French and Spanish orchids.
