Ophrys mateolana
Ophrys mateolana has been described in L'Orchidophile 22 (No.97) 1991 from the region of Matera in the province of Basilicata. Also near Quasani in the Province of Bari corresponding orchids are growing. Its attributes seem to be between those of the neighbour species Ophrys exaltata subsp. archipelagi and Ophrys exaltata subsp. exaltata. Most authors take Ophrys mateolana as synonyme of Ophrys exaltata subsp. archipelagi.
