Ophrys tarquinia has been described in 2000 by DELFORGE in Natural.belges 81. The emphasis of this species' spreading is located in southern Tuskany and northern Latium, predominantly in the interior away from the coast. Beside alkaline soils it accepts sour substrate, too, down to a pH value of 4. It is an arachnitiforme Ophrys with green perigon. The labellum has often a ramificated speculum, and doesn't have swellings usually. The sizes of the labellums are varying in a big range, even within the same sites. In Natural.belges 83 (Orchid. 15) : 36-38 DELFORGE states that the pollinator of Ophrys tarquinia is Andrena tibialis.
