Important attributes of Gagea lutea: Petals rounded at the front. Base leaf usually wider than stem leaves, up to 12 mm wide,
with a distinct midrib on the underside, in the upper part narrowed to a hood tip.
The bract does not enclose the flower stalks like a sheath.
The juvenile leaves are five-cornered thread-like. Only one bulb.
Gagea lutea doesn't need as much light as Gagea villosa
and Gagea pratensis, it likes to grow in light woods.
Some authors differ between two varieties:
- Gagea lutea var. lutea with bright green leaves
- Gagea lutea var. glauca A.TERRACC. with bluish green leaves (Fig. 1 to 19)
