Native to the prairies of North America, Switch Grass Panicum virgatum is used as an ornamental plant, e.g. for greening of traffic islands. It can be recognized by the fact that the outer lemma is about as long as the whole spikelet at the time of flowering, see e.g. Fig. 24. | ||
