   RCHB.:  Heinrich Gottlieb Ludwig Reichenbach (1793 - 1879), German botanist
   POMEL:  Auguste Pomel (1821 - 1898), French geologist and palaeontologist
   L.:  Carl von Linné (Linnaeus, 1707 - 1777), Swedish naturalist who introduced the binary naming system for plants and animals
 

Etymology:
   Phelipanche:   Louis (1643 - 1727) and Hieronymus (1674 - 1747) Phelypeaux, French officers
   lavandulacea:   lavender-colored
   Orobanche:   orobos = pea, anchein = to retch
 

Despite its name the hosts of the Lavender Broomrape aren't woody bushes as Lavender, but various herbaceous plants, often Pitch Trefoil Bituminaria bituminosa. Only the color of the flowers of this Broomrape is compared with that of Lavender.
