Etymologie / Etymology:
Ptilostemon:   ptilon = Feder, stemon = Staubblatt / ptilon = feather, stemon = stamen
afer:   aus Nordafrika / from Northern Africa

Ptilostemon afer stammt vom Balkan. Dies widerspricht dem Artnamen afer, der die Teile von Nordafrika meint, die bereits den Römern bekannt waren.

Ptilostemon afer originates from the Balkans. This in contradiction to the species name afer which means the parts of Northern Africa which were already known to the Romans.
