Under the name Anacamptis papilionacea subsp. thaliae this orchid from Rhodes and neighouring Turkey has been decribed in Ber.Arbeitskrs.Heim.Orchid. 26 (2); (2009), which was issued in 2010. Authors are Karel KREUTZ and Jan ESSINK. The greek word 'thallo' means 'flourishing', and is also the origin of the name of the muse and grace 'Thalia', which has been chosen because of the chromaticity and attractivity of the blossoms of this orchid. |
