Etymology:
   Limodorum:   laimodoron = Greek name of a parasitic plant
   trabutianum:   Louis Charles Trabut (1853 - 1929), French physician and botanist in Northern Africa (TRAB.)
   thracum:   from Thrace (Greece)
 

Limodorum trabutianum subsp. thracum has been described in 2004 by Helmut Presser in Jour.Eur.Orch. 36(4):969-991 as a geographical subspecies, since the next known ocurrences of Limodorum trabutianum in Tuscany (Italy) are about 1500 km away.
