In Ber. Arbeitskrs. Heim. Orchid. 35 (1) 2018 Wolfram FOELSCHE described the new Nigritella graciliflora from Trenchtling. The separating attributes to Nigritella bicolor are narrow lip and somewhat longer lateral petals. As most Eastern Alpine Nigritella it is apomictic and propagates asexually. I saw a small population of few square meters, while some ten meters further growing red Nigritella had normal wide lips, and therefore are to be called Nigritella bicolor. To me the species rank of Nigritella graciliflora seems too high for this variety. |
