Etymology:
   Ophrys:   Greek plant name, from ophrys = eyebrow
   apifera:   bearing bees
   pindica:   from Pindus mountains
 

Zissis Antonopoulos wrote, that there were 10 stems of this variety available at the site. For the first time he saw a variety of the bee orchid in Northern Greece, although he often found the 'usual' bee orchid.
