Etymology:
   Ophrys:   Greek plant name, from ophrys = eyebrow
   ariadnae:   Ariadne, Greek legendary figure
 

Ophrys ariadnae differs mainly by the less divergent lateral lobes and the higher stigmatic cave with straight sides from Ophrys cretica, while this orchid has a low stigmatic cave with rounded sides.
