Etymology:
	Ophrys:	Greek plant name, from ophrys = eyebrow
	exaltata:	raised
	cephalonica:	from the Greek island Cephalonia

Deutsch:
Das Taxon wurde 1984 von B.+H.BAUMANN als Unterart von Ophrys sphegodes beschrieben. Es wurde nach der griechischen Insel Kefallinia benannt, ist in der Gegend aber weiter verbreitet.

Wie die Nachbar-Art Ophrys exaltata subsp. archipelagi wird sie von Colletes cunicularius bestäubt. Zwischen dem südlichen Dalmatien (Kroatien) und Albanien gibt es fließende Übergänge zur Ophrys exaltata subsp. archipelagi, die die Fortsetzung nach Norden bildet, und auch im östlichen Italien vorkommt.

English:
The orchid was decribed by B.+H.BAUMANN in 1984 as subspecies of Ophrys sphegodes. It is named according to the Greek island of Kefallinia, but is wider spread in the region.

As the neighbour species Ophrys exaltata subsp. archipelagi it is pollinated by Colletes cunicularius. Between Southern Dalmatia (Croatia) and Albania there flowing transistions to Ophrys exaltata subsp. archipelagi, which continues to northern direction and is also available in the eastern part of Italy.
