Etymology:
	Ophrys:	Greek plant name, from ophrys = eyebrow
	drumana:	from Departement Drome

In 1988 DELFORGE described the relative of Ophrys bertolonii which occurs in the Drome, as well in smaller regions of the upper Provence and West of the Rhone, and which usually has a lighter edge around the speculum, as Ophrys drumana. In Natural. belges 97 (Orchid. 29): 78-88 (2016) DELFORGE stated Megachile parietina as pollinating bee of Ophrys drumana at Les Combes and Saint-Sauveur-en-Diois in Departement Drôme.
Since the beginning of the 21th century French botanists are using Ophrys saratoi as older preferential name for the Drome Orchid Ophrys drumana.
