Bei den Arten der Clinopodium menthifolium Gruppe sind die unteren Kelchzähne etwa doppelt so lang ausgezogen wie die oberen. Üblicherweise werden zwei Arten oder Unterarten unterschieden: Clinopodium menthifolium subsp. menthifolium (= Calamintha sylvatica subsp. sylvatica), die auch in Mitteleuropa vorkommt, und Clinopodium menthifolium subsp. ascendens (= Calamintha sylvatica subsp. ascendens). Die letztere hat kleinere Blüten und kürzere Blütenstiele.

The lower calyx teeth of species of the Clinopodium menthifolia group have about the double length of the upper ones. Usually two species or subspecies are differed: Clinopodium menthifolium subsp. menthifolium (= Calamintha sylvatica subsp. sylvatica), which also occurs in Central Europe, and Clinopodium menthifolium subsp. ascendens (= Calamintha sylvatica subsp. ascendens). The latter has smaller blossoms and shorter petioles at the flowers.
