Leider war ich nicht zur richtigen Zeit in den westlichen Pyrenäen, um die dunkel rosa Blüten dieser Pflanze zu sehen, die von der Form her an die der Silene rupestris erinnern. Die Gattung, die nur wenige in den Pyrenäen und anderen nordspanischen Gebirgen wachsende Arten umfasst, ist nahe mit Silene verwandt, einige Abweichungen im Blütenbau rechtfertigen allerdings die Aufstellung der eigenen Gattung. Petrocoptis heißt wörtlich übersetzt "Felsenbrecher", da die Pflanze meist in kleinen Spalten im Fels wächst.

Unfortunately I have not been in the Western Pyrenees at the suitable time to see the dark pink blossoms of this plant, which have a similar form as those of Silene rupestris. The genus comprises only few species which are growing in the Pyrenees and other mountains of Northern Spain, and is closely related to Silene, however some differences justify the posting of a separate genus. Petrocoptis means "rock breaker" because the plant is usually growing in small gaps in the rock.
