Diesen zierlichen Hahnenfuß fand ich auf der Ägäis-Insel Samos an einem östlichen Vorberg des Mt. Ambelos (Karvouni) an einer moosigen Stelle zwischen Felsen. Nach mehreren Bestimmungsversuchen halte ich ihn inzwischen für Ranunculus subhomophyllus, obwohl diese Art in 'Vascular Plants of Greece, An annotated checklist' (Berlin 2013) nicht für die ostägäischen Inseln angegeben wird, sondern nur für die Peloponnes und Kreta. In Strids 'Mountain Flora of Greece' Band 1 Seite 220 wird die Art tatsächlich auch für Samos angegeben. Auf mehreren Fotos in der griechischen Pflanzenbestimmungsseite https://www.greekflora.gr/el/flowers/3426/Ranunculus-subhomophyllus sind genau solche Blätter wie auf meinen Fotos zu sehen. In der österreichischen Internetseite 'Botanik im Bild' wird auch die in Österreich nicht vorkommende Art vorgestellt mit folgenden Verbreitungs- und Biotopangaben (Stand Juni 2024): "Ranunculus subhomophyllus kommt im südlichen Griechenland und im Bereich der Ägäis in der subalpinen Stufe vor. Auf Kreta wächst die Art auf Ruhschutt und auf feuchten Felslagen in Igelpolsterheiden in Höhenlagen von 1100 bis 2300 Meter". Allerdings zeigt das zugehörige Foto aus Kreta (von A. Mrkvicka 1989) einen zierlichen Hahnenfuß mit abstehenden Kelchblättern, während alle anderen Quellen anliegende Kelchblätter für Ranunculus subhomophyllus angeben. Das Foto in 'Botanik im Bild' dürfte also fehlbestimmt sein, eventuell zeigt es Ranunculus gracilis.

I found this delicate buttercup on the Aegean island of Samos at an Eastern foothill of Mt. Ambelos (Karvouni) in a mossy spot between rocks. After several attempts to identify it, I now believe it to be Ranunculus subhomophyllus, although this species is not listed for the Eastern Aegean Islands in 'Vascular Plants of Greece, An annotated checklist' (Berlin 2013), only for the Peloponnese and Crete. In Strid's 'Mountain Flora of Greece' volume 1 page 220 the species is actually mentioned for Samos, too. Several photos on the Greek plant determination site https://www.greekflora.gr/el/flowers/3426/Ranunculus-subhomophyllus show leaves exactly like those in my photos. The Austrian website 'Botanik im Bild' also presents the species, which does not occur in Austria, with the following distribution and biotope information (state June 2024): "Ranunculus subhomophyllus occurs in Southern Greece and in the Aegean region in the subalpine zone. On Crete, the species grows in static rubble and on moist rocky areas in prickly shrub heaths at altitudes of 1100 to 2300 meters" (translation from German by Google, improved by me). However, the associated photo from Crete (by A. Mrkvicka 1989) shows a delicate buttercup with protruding sepals, while all other sources indicate attached sepals for Ranunculus subhomophyllus. The photo in 'Botanik im Bild' is therefore likely to be misidentified, possibly showing Ranunculus gracilis.
