Der langjährig benutzte Name Rubus vulgaris WEIHE & NEES 1827 der hier abgebildeten Brombeere ist ungültig, da es zwei ältere gleich lautende Namen Rubus vulgaris von 1779 und 1820 von anderen Autoren gibt, die zwar beide nur Synonyme anderer Arten darstellen, jedoch verhindern diese trotzdem, dass die abgebildete Brombeere Rubus vulgaris heißen darf.
