Die Nordmann-Tanne stammt aus dem Kaukasus. In Mitteleuropa wird sie wegen ihrer weichen dunkelgrünen Nadeln plantagenmäßig als Weihnachtsbaum angepflanzt und gefällt, bevor sie Zapfen mit Samen bildet. Ältere Exemplate kann man bei Ennepetal sehen, sie wurden vor einigen Jahrzehnten zusammen mit der aus Westamerika stammenden Pazifischen Edel-Tanne Abies procera gepflanzt. Beide halten sich im mitteleuropäischen Klima in dieser höheren Lage um 350 Meter bisher ganz gut. Naturverjüngung der Nordmann-Tanne in allen Altersstufen findet man dort zahlreich. Allerdings konnte ich im April 2025 weder Zapfen am Boden noch Zapfenspindeln im Kronenbereich der Bäume sehen, und habe noch nicht herausgekriegt, ob die Zapfen herunterfallen wie bei der Edel-Tanne Abies procera, oder sich bereits am Baum auflösen wie bei der einheimischen Weiß-Tanne Abies alba.

The Nordmann Fir originates from the Caucasus. In Central Europe, it is planted as a Christmas tree in plantations because of its soft, dark-green needles, and felled before it produces cones with seeds. Older specimens can be seen near Ennepetal; they were planted several decades ago together with the West American Noble fir Abies procera. Both have so far done quite well in the Central European climate at this higher elevation of around 350 meters. Natural regeneration of the Nordmann Fir of all ages can be found there. However, in April 2025, I could not see any cones at the ground nor cone spindles in the crown area of the trees, and I have not yet found out whether the cones are falling off like in the case of the Noble Fir Abies procera, or are already disintegrating on the tree like in the case of the native Common Silver Fir Abies alba.
