Genus:  Dianthus  L.

Dianthus seguieri is a perennial with at least four pairs of stem leaves. The sheath of the stem leaves is only about as long as the stem width. In Dianthus sylvaticus, which by some authors is treated as subspecies Dianthus seguieri subsp. glaber or Dianthus seguieri subsp. sylvaticus of the Ragged Pink, the stem leaves are between 2 and 5 mm wide, in Dianthus seguieri the width is only up to 2 mm.
