The relative big spore capsules of the Nut Moss are growing "at ground level", not on a short stalk as those of the closely related Bug-on-a-Stick Mosses. If pressure impacts the ripe capsule, because e.g. a rain drop falls on it, the spores are ejected for up to a meter. |
