Vorige Art/previous species (Left arrowball from Animation City 1991)     Fumana ericifolia  WALLR.     Nächste Art/next species (Right arrowball from Animation City 1991)

Fam.: Cistaceae / Rockrose Fam.

Synon.:  Fumana spachii  GREN. & GODR., illeg.

Genus:  Fumana  (DUNAL) SPACH

Fumana ericifolia has particularly long, slender leaves, and no secondary leaves. The plant is somewhat hairy, at least in the upper part. The flower stalks only bear one flower. The plants which I photographed in Liguria are matching very good for Fumana ericifolia, some hairs can also be seen in the original photos of the images shown in this site. In many older publications Fumana ericifolia is not differentiated from Fumana ericoides.
In Michael Hassler's World Plants only Spain, Andorra, Portugal and some North African countries are given as distribution area, but in the Flora Croatica Database Fumana ericifolia (and not Fumana ericoides as in other sources) is reported as occurring in Croatia, and in the Flora Italiana both species are reported as occurring in almost whole Italy. Tela Botanica shows few finds for Fumana ericifolia scattered across Southern France.
