Not until 2017 the yellowish-lilac colored Phelipanche hedypnoidis has been described from a coastal site at Rhodes, it occurs also at other locations of the Mediterranean, in Morocco, and on the Canary island of El Hierro. The description can be found in Rätzel, S., M. Ristow and H. Uhlich (2017), Bemerkungen zu ausgewählten Vertretern der Gattung Phelipanche Pomel im östlichen Mittelmeergebiet mit der Beschreibung von Phelipanche hedypnoidis Rätzel, Ristow & Uhlich, sp. nov., Carinthia II 207/127: 643 - 684. Usually the host is Hedypnois rhagadioloides, rarely other closer related Composites, as well as Plantain species, Daucus pumilus (Apiaceae), and Matthiola tricuspidata (Brassicaceae), too.
