Da Plantago holosteum / subulata für küstennahe Gebiete der Ägäis nicht angegeben wird, müssen die mehr oder weniger dickblättrigen Wegerich-Formen, die auf dieser Seite gezeigt werden, wohl alle Plantago crassifolia zugeordnet werden. Das langblättrige Vorkommen vom Salzsee Alikes auf Kos wuchs an einer sehr feuchten Stelle einige hundert Meter vom Meer entfernt, das kurzblättrige und -blütige Vorkommen von der Kephalos-Halbinsel im Westen von Kos wuchs direkt an der Küste: der Sonne, dem Wind und im Winter wohl auch der Gischt des Meerwassers ausgesetzt.

Since Plantago holosteum / subulata is not recorded for the coastal regions of the Aegean, the more or less thick-leaved Plantago forms shown on this page must presumably all be assigned to Plantago crassifolia. The long-leaved population from the salt lake Alikes on Kos grew in a very damp spot a few hundred meters from the sea, whereas the short-leaved and short-flowered population from the Kefalos Peninsula in the West of Kos grew directly at the coast: exposed to sun and wind, and in winter presumably also to sea spray.
