Auf über 2000 Meter Höhe fand ich die vorjährigen Blätter und Stängel von Senecio thapsoides, einem Korbblütler mit gelben Blüten und weiß-filzigen Stängeln und Blatt-Unterseiten. Einige Früchte waren im Vorjahr befallen von einer Gallmücke der Gattung Sphenella, z.B. Sphenella marginata, durch deren Befall der Fruchtboden stark anschwoll, die Früchte ein kegelförmiges Aussehen annahmen, und sich in diesem Zustand auch über den Winter mit Schneefall hielten. Die Gattung Sphenella sind Bohrfliegen aus der Familie Tephritidae, recht klein, aber auffällig durch 'zweifarbige' Flügel (durchsichtig und dunkel).

At an altitude of over 2000 meters I found previous year's leaves and stems of Senecio thapsoides, a Composite with yellow blooms and white-felted stems and leaf bottom sides. In the previous year some of the fruits were infested by a gall fly of the genus Sphenella, e.g. Sphenella marginata, as a result of which the fruit base swelled considerably, the fruit took on a cone-shaped appearance, and remained in this state even over the winter with snowfall. Genus Sphenella are Fruit Flies of the family Tephritidae, rather small, but striking due to 'two-colored' wings (transparent and dark), (and which shall not be confused with the Genus Drosophila of family Drosophilidae, which smaller flies are also called Fruit Flies in English).
