Die hier abgebildete Alkanna hellenica mit den auffällig welligen Blättern wurde von Karl Heinz Rechinger (fil.) als morphologisch und räumlich getrennte Art von Alkanna orientalis abgespalten, zur der sie nach wie vor verschiedene Autoren zählen. Als Alkanna hellenica wird sie auch in der recht neuen "Vascular plants of Greece - an annotated checklist" (2013) geführt. Alkanna hellenica wird für das griechische Festland und direkt benachbarte Inseln angegeben, während Alkanna orientalis in der Ostägäis und dem Vorderen Orient vorkommt.

The Alkanna hellenica shown here with the strikingly wavy leaves was split off by Karl Heinz Rechinger (fil.) as a morphologically and geographically separate species from Alkanna orientalis, to which various authors still assign it. It is also listed as Alkanna hellenica in the fairly new "Vascular plants of Greece - an annotated checklist" (2013). Alkanna hellenica is mentioned for the Greek mainland and directly neighboring islands, while Alkanna orientalis occurs in the Eastern Aegean and Near East.
